Important notes... 
Two major Obama freakout moments:
1) his spazzing out and pulling the race card because of the Paris Hilton ad.
2) freaking out over Gov Sarah Palin and her speech which eclipsed his.
"In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers," she said in a barbed reference to Obama's campaign theme. "And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change," she added in remarks prepared for her prime time address to the Republican National Convention.
In a second unmistakable jab at McCain's White House opponent, Palin traced her career as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, to governor of her state, adding: "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a `community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities."
As a young man, Obama did a stint as a community organizer.
The Alaska governor had top billing at the convention on a night delegates also lined up for a noisy roll call of the states to deliver their presidential nomination to McCain. At 72, the Arizona senator is the oldest first-time nominee in history, collecting his party's top prize after pursuing it for the better part of a decade.
A parade of party luminaries preceded Palin to the convention podium, and Republicans packing the hall cheered every attack on Obama.
There were many.
"He's never run a city, never run a state, never run a business, never run a military unit. He's never had to lead people in crisis," said former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani of McCain's rival.
"This is not a personal attack ... it's a statement of fact ? Barack Obama has never led anything. Nothing. Nada."
Palin, 44, also jabbed at the news media, which have raised convention week questions about her background and her family, including her 17-year-old unmarried, pregnant daughter. "Here's little news flash for all those reporters and commentators: I'm not going to Washington to seek their good opinion ? I'm going to Washington to serve the people of this country."

I take a trip to the mountians outside Tokyo for a one day escape from urban life. It was nice to get out of the city, however brief.  I got back in touch with the non-metrosexual manside by grilling meat over hot coals and having a warm schvitz.  I wish I could do this every weekend, but sadly life in Tokyo is mostly working for the man.
For those curious about costs and such:
Log Cabin: 5,000 yen (Per person, cabin sizes range from one person to groups of 6)
Bar-b-que Rental: 2,000 yen (including charcoal)
Train ticket: 2,600 yen one way (depends on which train though)
Bus: 620 yen one way
Onsen: 500 yen
Groceries: 3,000 yen
Charring meat: Priceless
English Ok.  Pets Ok.  But you must return the cabin to the state you found it in.  I highly recommend this for families, especially if you can drive.  Using public transport was a bit of a pain in the ass, and limits your options if you are staying for more than one night.
