As a pianist, while his piano is very very good, it pales in comparison to his amazing drum technique

why u always discuss whos the best drummer?? there r lots of awesome drummer and each with his own style.. they r just different.. not better thats my opinion.

Thank youuuuu

I guess Peart, Portnoy, and Harrison (among many others) aren't really drummers, then. If you think Yoshiki is the best drummer out in the field, you need to listen to more than six or seven different bands. You're sounding like a real weeaboo.

Yoshiki is pretty awesome isn't he? *0*
kombanwa22291  2008-09-11
What the?! what do you mean, this guy woops all the drumers out there, and this man Yoshiki is legendary, and remember these guys are from the 80s, and to still play like this plus there song I.V these guys are the best of the best.
borh1  2008-09-11
i heard he was best but niel pert(rush) still kicks his to hell and back

These guys are also (some more highly regarded than others) composers in their own right. I can't say that I've seen any of them conduct an orchestra, but most or all of them have the money and influence to make that arrangement. Do you see my point? : ) Nevertheless, I think he's done an incredible job promoting himself and his music, making him a huge figure in the industry But, for INCREDIBLE piano playing start with Liszt, Chopin, Beethoven Drums-Chambers,Cobham,Jimbo,White,Weckyl

I think that statement is a bit of a stretch! He's most well known for playing the piano and drums, so let's stick with what artists are known to play : ) If you would like to know of some of the better known multi-instrumentalists out there, here are several: Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Marcus Miller, Prince, John Paul Jones, Tony McAlpine, Paul McCandless, Phil Collins, and Stewart Copeland.

Just to set things straight, I think that this man has done a wonderful job in the music business and his track record proves it. Also, I've heard him play the piano and I think he's much better at that than percussion. My point in my commenting is that he's not very good on the drum set. I'm a humble hobbyist and would still leave him bruised and battered (figuratively, of course) after a drum-off. As far as Yoshiki's ability to play every musical instrument that I can possibly think?
DrumDisciple1  2008-09-09
I respect yours as well. Thanks for the discussion : )

Dongabel  2008-09-08
that solo isnt intresting or musically oynly double bass thats cool for first 30 sec and then thats going to be board... dry jazz or some thing
vkkaizer12012  2008-09-07
lol i thought the same with joey, till i heard drummers like tony royster jr. and steve smith, still though to me yoshiki is legendary cus of his influence upon many including myself but i respect ur opinion
DrumDisciple1  2008-09-06
Great entertainer? Yes, he obviously has gained a loyal fan base. Great drummer? Sadly, no. Legendary drummer? Gimme a break! You may see what I mean as your tastes mature as you advance in skill on the set. Hell, when I was 14, I thought that Lars Ulrich was the greatest drummer in the world. Then, I heard John Bonham unbiasedly, and so opened my eyes. Good luck on the drums!
DrumDisciple1  2008-09-06
Fine by me. I suppose anyone can form opinions of what defines legendary stature. This just doesn't seem legendary to me. I understand that this page is loaded with fans (i.e. fanatics) and are not necessarily looking for (or do not know how to look for) actual musical skill as a benchmark for musical talent. Therefore my comments will unfortunately fall on deaf ears and will be ill received. Nevertheless, the reality is that this guy possesses simple chops!
vkkaizer12012  2008-09-06
ok look, there are alot of better drummers out there, but yoshiki plays with heart and i think thats wat counts towards being great and being legendary
DrumDisciple1  2008-09-04
He's got a lot of energy but I still think he's lame. All he's doing is keeping moderate tempo on double bass. From what I see and hear, I would eat this guy alive head to head. If you wanna see a good Japanese drummer, check out Akira Jimbo. Start with "Aerobics of Alien" (weird name I know). Also check out his work with "Synchronized DNA". You'll be blown away.
lilballa3474  2008-09-03
alright. listen to rusty nail. juss listen to his drumming and dahlia as well. and im sorry for giving u rouble but im juss a huge fanatic
primal777  2008-09-03
if you wanna watch perfomance art thats cool, but dont say he can drum better then me, especially if you dont know how well i can drum. Show me something decent he's done and i will show some respect. but if your gonna do poxy performance art BS then expect some bagging. Bozio, virgil dinarti, will calhoon know how to drum. show me some decent work and i will show him respect but dont crap on about how its amazing when all he does is hit clear drums with water on them like a 5 year old.
lilballa3474  2008-09-03
u gotta listen to his other songs. thats probably why u dont think hes that good.
lilballa3474  2008-09-03
u know what? u need to shut the hell up and stop postin comments saying"ive seen 7 year olds do better" at least hes better than u
